Having a child in the hospital is never easy - especially when the hospital is far from home. For families with a child in a Richmond hospital or other medical facility, the Richmond Ronald McDonald House is a place to stay, a place to relax, a place to be understood.

Located on Richmond's majestic Monument Avenue, our nine-bedroom house has opened its doors to families from across the nation and around the world since 1980. Each family arrives to find a comfortable home, supportive staff, caring volunteers and an environment of hope for the recovery of their child.

The house is run by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond, VA, Inc., a non-profit organization and member of the national Ronald McDonald House Charities. In addition to the Ronald McDonald House, the Richmond chapter also oversees three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (reserved for the families of the most critical patients), RMHC National Scholarship Program, RMHC Grants Program, and a Family Support and Recovery Program.

The Richmond chapter's programs support the charity's overall mission - "A strong mind. A strong body. And a safe, supportive place to grow. These are things that every child needs - and deserves - to have." RMHC Richmond does this by creating, finding, and supporting programs that directly benefit the health and well-being of children.
