Golfers take to the green for the 23rd annual golf tournament on Tuesday, September 28 at Hunting Hawk Golf Course in Glen Allen. A silent and live auction will take place at the Richmond Westin the evening prior. Corporate sponsorships, auction items and in-kind donations make this two-day event possible, so please consider how you and your organization can contribute to our largest fundraising effort of the year.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization (Tax ID: 52-1359486). Each year Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond relies on the funds raised at these events to continue to provide programs that directly improve the health and well being of children and their families. An important part of the Richmond community since 1980, Ronald McDonald House Charities operates three major programs:
Ronald McDonald House offers families a home-away-from-home while children are receiving medical treatment in the Richmond area. The House provides a comfortable place to stay and an opportunity for guests to find support in other parents who are experiencing the same fears and anxieties. Sadly, 80% of guests cannot afford the suggested donation of $7.50 per night due to increased medical expenses, and the fact that one parent often has to stop working in order to handle the frequent hospitalizations. That’s why no one is ever turned away for inability to pay.
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Hospital are reserved for parents who have the most critically-ill children and who are the farthest from home. Located just steps away from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, these three recently-renovated Family Rooms provide a place for families to get some well-deserved rest from the hectic PICU while remaining close to their children. There is no charge for use of these rooms.
Grants and Scholarships are awarded by the RMHC of Richmond Board of Directors on an annual basis to give back to the local community. Local not-for-profit organizations whose programs directly improve the health and well-being of children in the Richmond area are able to apply for RMHC grants to further their goals. The local RMHC Scholars Scholarship Program provides graduating high school seniors with money toward first semester expenses at an institution of higher learning. Tens of thousands of dollars go back into the community this way each year.
