Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond Joshua David Swinson Memorial Scholarship will be presented to two students with an established and documented physical, emotional, or learning disability from the greater Richmond area that plan to continue their education beyond high school.
From Pam Dicken, Joshua’s mother:
It is our pleasure and honor to award these scholarships in conjunction with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond in memory of our precious son, Joshua David Swinson. As a result of many of many major surgeries and complications, Joshua was labeled with a Learning Disability due to a Health Impairment. Truly our little boy’s motto was “Never Give Up” and perseverance was his specialty. Heart disease or a learning disability would not dictate how he would live his life. Joshua wanted to be the best at whatever he was doing. He was only 10 ½ years old when he died following his seventh open-heart surgery.
Scholarships will be awarded towards the cost of tuition to student who fulfill the criteria and complete the application process.
